Heavy Thoughts

While in Bangkok, Thailand, I visited many Buddhist temples. In one of them, I came upon this statue and became engrossed by the face – duh. I wondered what the sculptor was thinking when he (probably he) made this statue. I looked at it for a time and decided my face would have this look if I was heavy in thought, happy or sad. Can a heavy thought be happy?

I also love the feet, how they’re crossed, perhaps a shyness revealed.
