I love the word “chrysalis” because it’s fun saying it, and the potential it serves. A butterfly. That’s why I used “chrysalis-to-be” in the title here, instead of “caterpillar.”
She was walking alone around the rocks in a New Mexico park, in 2017. I watched her for a while (“her” because she looks a bit plumpity plump and that’s how you tell, but I’m totally guessing.) And she didn’t look like she was headed anywhere specific. Just out in the desert, among the rocks, by herself. Looking around. Just like me.
